Individual therapy is one-on-one with a trained professional in a safe and confidential environment. Often people enter into therapy because they recognize that something is happening in their life that they are not happy with, whether that be challenges with relationships, challenges effectively communicating, feeling some sort of emotion intensely, feeling stuck or unmotivated, wanting to change a behavior, explore past trauma, or anything else that might be impacting them.
Therapy is most effective when the person seeking therapy puts in effort and practices what is discussed during the sessions. We can only get out of therapy what we choose to put in, there is no magic solution or trick to healing. It takes time and effort, and in the beginning it may feel like it takes more effort, but over time, you will begin to see changes and it will become more easy to enjoy the life you are wanting.
Early on, especially if you are new to therapy, it may feel weird or “clunky” to open up to a stranger and that is completely normal. If you are able to lean into that discomfort and be open, you will find that over time it will feel more natural. One of the hardest steps to take is to start the journey towards healing and if you are willing, I would love to take that journey with you.
